Adventurous and unconventional describe my Ontario childhood divided between grandparent’s rural farm and my parents heart Toronto city home. I loved both worlds, but my heart was captured by the earthiness of farm life, and the richness of nature and its wildlife. Grandfather taught me that we are all part of the animal kingdom. It must be respected. The wild world must remain wild. People should only interfere with wild animals when help is a matter of survival. Under his care, I recognized my place in the natural environment. These early life experiences have held me in good stead all these years and I will forever be at one with nature and its incredible wildlife.
ABOUT THE CREDIT RIVER CRITTERS BOOKS
I believe in the magic of good old-fashioned story telling. A beguiling story with enchanting illustrations will successfully entice children to step into worlds of wonder, excitement, and endless possibility. My non-fiction picture books are timeless heart-warming love stories for the young and old alike. They are designed to captivate the reader’s imagination while teaching the joys, dangers, and life lessons through the eyes of an animal or through kind Mrs. Brown. She is the wise interventionist who is always ready to protect and help any animal in need.
It is my desire that when a parent or teacher introduces Credit River Critters story, children are gently reminded of the security of a loving home or as in nature, ‘a nest’ or a ‘den’. All children, even today’s sophisticated and technically advanced readers, can enjoy learning about the challenges facing animals in today’s hectic world. The stories strengthen the understanding of wildlife and nature and the precious bond that we share.
